What does #kindness have to do with #leadership?
EVERYTHING!! … especially if you believe in Servant-Minded Leadership!
The #leader who does not have the time (or willingness) to be kind is not a true leader! Sure they may have a position of leadership but they are no leader.
#leaders are those who care about #people.
Leaders are those who #value#people.
Leaders are those who are #kind!
So what does it mean for a leader to be kind?
There is no single meaning to the word “Kind” but, if you want to be kind, #servantmindedleader, here are 3 ways that you can begin today:
1. Ask people, “Are you doing well today?” No, NOT “How are you doing?” That is a perfunctory question that does not show care. But, if we change the wording and actually await an answer, it demonstrates care and kindness.
2. Smile! This is one of the most simple and yet most challenging kindness strategies. A simple smile has the power to brighten a day, and bring joy to a heart. Make sure it is warm, authentic, and engaging then spread the love with a smile!
3. Never judge based on title. Whether we are speaking to the CEO or the janitor, it is a person. That is enough to merit respect and kindness from us. The person in front of us should feel that they are the most important person, in that moment. After all, they ARE.
If we will put these three into practice, the kindness will be felt and it will inspire others to do the same, and it will grow. Before we know it, leaderships and kindness will be synonymous, and we will have made a world-changing impact!
