Who We Are: The Story Behind SML Consultive

At our core, we’re here to serve the kinds of leaders who often go unnoticed — not because they’re unimportant, but because they’re in the trenches. We’re talking about front-line leaders: the supervisors, team leads, and middle managers who carry the day-to-day weight of leadership but are rarely given the tools to do it well. That’s why SML exists.


How It Started: The Gap We Couldn’t Ignore

SML Consultive was born out of firsthand experience. Our founder, Jon Antonucci, spent years in leadership and training roles, where he noticed a recurring theme: while organizations often provide solid technical and operational training, the people leading teams rarely receive the kind of leadership development they actually need.

Most leadership programs are aimed at executives. Meanwhile, front-line and mid-level managers — those closest to the work and the people — are left to figure it out on their own. And let’s be honest: leading people is hard. It’s emotional, relational, and deeply human work. There’s no quick manual for it.

Jon had already developed practical tools and content to help leaders grow, rooted in real-world experience — not theory. Over time, those tools began to resonate. They worked. That’s when the idea for SML Consultive took shape: what if we could provide leadership development built specifically for front-line leaders? What if we could equip those who serve others every day with the skills and support to do it well?

That’s exactly what we’ve set out to do.
