Rather, do you feel like you are a good #listener?

I post this, not because I have it all figured out, but rather because I am on a journey of growth in this area, and want to share it with you.

Personally, I know that I start conversations as a good listener, but inevitably I latch onto something that is said and before I know it, I have talked for 20 minutes… Realizing what I have done, I humbly attempt to listen again.

Don’t get me wrong, I am growing! I am MUCH better about this today than I was in days and years past. But, I still have to work on it. So, I share this with US (not you, us) so that we can be #inspired today to be better!

So, how can we #bebetter? I think it starts with us genuinely #caring about others. If we don’t really care about them, then we will not be interested in what they’re saying. If we don’t honestly care what they are talking about then, we REALLY won’t be listening with a heart to understand.

BUT, if we have authentic love in our heart for the person, then we will see them as valuable, and worthy of dignity. This will inevitably prompt us to care about what they think and how they perceive things. We will WANT to learn from them, and we will listen with the intent to understand–not just to respond!

So, I have not been so much working on listening…no, I have been working on my heart for people. Learning to love people better is helping me to listen better, and that is a win for me!
